Supporting Working Parents and Families

Raising a family shouldn't mean constantly having to choose between paying the bills, caring for loved ones, and planning for the future.

I know firsthand how much opportunity matters. I grew up in East Cobb, attended Georgia public schools, and benefited from the HOPE Scholarship and the Pell Grant. Those investments helped me earn three degrees from the University of Georgia and eventually become a professor.

Today, my husband and I are raising our twins in the same community where I grew up. I understand the everyday challenges of balancing work, family responsibilities, and the rising cost of raising children.

We can do better.

I want Georgia to be a place where working families have the support and opportunities they need to thrive. That means investing in strong public schools, improving access to quality childcare and healthcare, and pursuing practical ways to ease the pressures facing families.

Where I'll focus my efforts:

  • Improve access to quality, affordable childcare.

  • Support strong public schools that prepare children for success.

  • Expand access to healthcare for working families.

  • Support practical policies that help families balance work and caregiving responsibilities.

  • Evaluate state programs to ensure resources are reaching families and delivering meaningful results.

I know what public investment in opportunity made possible in my own life. I want more Georgia families to have that same chance, not just to get by, but to build a secure future for themselves and their children.
